Harborough AC is affiliated to
UK Athletics and exists to provide local athletes with club
companionship and the opportunity to take part in many
athletic events including track and field, road running,
cross-county, triathlons and other athletic events.
Membership
Annual membership runs from September to September and is currently
£20 for over 17's and £10 for under 17's. Apart from the
general camaraderie to be gained from belonging to a club,
this entitles you to subsidised race entry fees.
Weekly subscriptions of 50p are collected on a Tuesday
evening to cover hire of the Leisure Centre, showers etc. They
are similarly collected on Monday nights from junior members.
Mission Statement
We are a multi-functional club affiliated to UK Athletics.
We cater for people of all abilities and ages generally
from 11years upwards who wish to develop their athletic
abilities.
We make available training and competition in all athletic
activities under the jurisdiction of UK Athletics:
- Track and Field
- Cross Country
- Road Running
- Fell Running
- Race Walking
We aim to encourage our members to develop their skills in
other areas associated with athletics, such as :
- Officiating
- Administration
- Coaching
Any other activity that may enhance the Club, County,
Region and National governing body.
We encourage the provision of a programme of social
activities for our members.
We aim to make available such resources as may be required
to facilitate the above, making use of facilities outside our
locale where necessary.
Northamptonshire Athletics Network
We are now part of the Northamptonshire Athletics Network.
The main focus of the network plan is to increase the number of active coaches in clubs,
increase the quality of coaching and also increase the number of people coaching the technical disciplines of jumps and throws.
This will not only allow for the clubs to reduce the number of people on their waiting lists but also allow more athletes to have access to all disciplines in Athletics rather than just endurance etc.
because clubs lack coaches across all the disciplines. This increase in coaches will be shared by all clubs with expert coaches from some clubs running sessions for all club coaches to benefit.

"Child Protection for Athletes" - Club Policy
"Our aim is to encourage the full participation of all
children and young people in our activities. In doing so, our
first priority is their welfare and safety from abuse.
We will work in partnership - enabling, valuing, listening
and responding to the wishes and views of children, young
people and parents. We encourage parental involvement in the
supervision of training sessions and competition, in all
aspects of club activities.
We want all our young members to feel happy and at ease. We
will do all we can to ensure that those taking part in our
club activities are safe.
We have appointed two Child Protection Officers (Dave Oram - 01536 712505 and Katy Kenyon - 01858 465542) within the club and we have established procedures to ensure the aims of our policy are achieved and maintained."
