Round Leicester Success for Mixed Team!

Sunday 20th September, and just two days removed from the 25th Anniversary celebrations, and one from the Midland 6 & 4 Stage Relays, a strong Club contingent took on the annual Round Leicester Relay.
The 13-leg race is one of the principal events of the County road racing calendar, and covers over 90 miles of Leicestershire's road, lanes and country byways through a course of individual routes that are between 5.3 and 8.1 miles in distance.
Led off by the newly-crowned Athlete of the Year, Will Clapp, the Harborough AC team made a strong start, handing through the next three legs to beat the designated restart time at Leg D (holding firm in 7th position at that point) - thanks to Jessica Edge and Adam Brooks. Sarah Swaine then gained a place, before Jason Pitcher took over. From there, it was on to Sean Fenwick, then Andy Robinson, Hollie Williams and Karen Brooks, with the strength-in-depth of the Club hugely evident as other teams were gradually picked off. Matt Green - one of the founder members of the Club - then handed over to Hannah Eveleigh, before Richard Bufton and Martin Gore brought the squad home to a fantastic finish, placing second overall in the Mixed Team category in an impressive time of 9 hours and 42 minutes.

The Club's Committee would like to extend a massive 'Well Done' to all the runners who took part on the day in both teams, as well as an important 'Thank You' to all those who helped out with marshalling and travelling between indidvual runners.
