Fenwick's from the Flame!

Harborough AC's Sean Fenwick continues to go from strength-to-strength, bettering a tough field to take victory in the 2009 Leicester Marathon. Starting in Victoria Park, the course then sees runners tour the edges of the city itself, taking in areas of Queniborough, Ratcliffe, Syston and Birstall, before returning to the shadows of de Montfort Hall for the finish line. Taking note of a swift early pace, Fenwick sat just off the lead, before breaking clear to take the tape by over two and a half minutes, winning in a very impressive time of 2 hours 35 minutes and 38seconds.

Clearly reinvigorated in recent months, Fenwick is putting together a string of noteworthy performances, and his most recent victory follows a first place finish over his Round Leicester Relay Leg; 13th in the Nottingham Half Marathon; and 4th over 10 miles in the John Fraser Memorial with a sparkling 55 minutes 17 seconds. Whilst in such fine form, Fenwick is relishing the up-coming winter season.

Also completing the 26.2 mile route were distance frequenter Shane Edge, who completed the course in a highly respectable 3 hours 42 minutes 19 seconds for 268th position, and Paul Russell, who followed Edge home with 443rd place in 4 hours 6 minutes exactly.
